José & Pilar's Recipe for SPANISH SANGRIA
Ingredients:
2 normal size oranges
2 normal size peaches
2 normal size lemons
3 bottles of dry red wine
1 small glass of Brandy
1/2 small glass of
Cointreau
1 small glass of
Red Vermouth
1 1/2 bottles of lemon soda
Sugar (to taste)
Plenty of ice cubes
Cut the oranges and peaches into slices and remove the seeds. Cut the lemon like you are making a spiral leaving the meat and remove the seeds.
Serving Preparation:
Prepare recipe 2 to 3 hours before serving. Pour ingredients into a punch bowl and add to the mixture vermouth, brandy and cointreau. Sample the mixture and if sour, add as much sugar as needed. Let the ingredients macerate until ready to serve. Fifteen minutes before serving, add the lemonade and as much ice as you want so the drink is refreshing. Serve in wine glasses.
José and Pilar are dear friends who shared their recipes with us during a recent visit. We certainly enjoyed their Spanish Sangria...the addition of champagne was a nice touch! Remember to drink responsibly.
